Valentine’s Day 2015 dawned bright and clear and beautifully brisk. Inside The Forum of downtown Rome, Holly, Ray and the team at The Season Events were hard at work putting on the finishing touches for The Heart of the Community 2015.
By evening The Forum was bubbling over with tuxedos and evening gowns as Redmond Regional Medical Center shined the spotlight on local heroes to celebrate their hearts of service and commitment to Rome. This annual banquet celebrated its 29th year by honoring eight individuals and organizations for their service to the community in 2014 and beyond. This year’s recipients included Chris Carey, Coosa Valley Credit Union, Darlington School, Dr. Paul Ferguson, Ruth Price Forrester, Ali Freeman, Evelyn Hamilton, and Randy Quick.
The Season Events added to the celebration with an exquisite array of appetizers followed by a three-course dinner. The evening’s menu began with servers passing through the crowd with salmon canapés, open-faced pork tenderloin sandwiches topped with rosemary honey mustard sauce, and the ever-popular cranberry and brie tart. As guests took their seats, they began their dinner with a wedge salad with cherry tomatoes, red onions, bleu cheese crumbles, and warm beer bacon dressing. Next, servers brought out the main course of beef bourguignon over mashed potatoes, herb-seasoned chicken breast, haricots verts, and roasted mixed vegetables. Following dinner, guests browsed a dessert bar of bite-sized, heart-shaped coconut cake, carrot cake, German chocolate cake, orange pound cake, pecan bites, and brownies, all complimented by hot coffee or a healthy bite of fruit.
From the blue and silver table settings to the sparkling trophies behind the stage to the applause and appreciation for every recipient, The Heart of the Community 2015 was a beautiful evening. With more than 70 staff working incredibly hard, The Season Events was honored and humbled to be able to take part, and I am thankful to have participated in such a special celebration.
